Women to Receive Equal Prize Money at All Combined WTA 1000 Events
The Women’s Tennis Association has announced equal payouts for women and men at every combined WTA 1000 tournament from 2027.

All combined WTA 1000 tournaments will award women the same prize money as men from 2027, according to BBC Sport and The Guardian. Both outlets reported confirmation from the Women’s Tennis Association.
The Guardian additionally reported that the Italian Open and other major events will join tournaments in the category that already offer equal payouts. BBC Sport’s supplied report did not identify individual tournaments.
The Guardian also provided historical context involving Billie Jean King. It reported that King has often linked her decision to establish the women’s professional tennis circuit to the disparity at the 1970 Italian Open: she received $600 for winning the women’s title, while men’s champion Ilie Nastase received $3,500.
The announced change covers all combined WTA 1000 events; neither supplied report described changes beyond that category.
